The Neverending Story
The Neverending Story, written by Michael Ende, is about a boy named Bastian Balthazar Bux, whose mother died when he was a young boy. After his mother's death, his father has avoided contact with him.
Bastian stumbles across a book that slowly sucks him in to a world called Fantastica. He makes a friend, a boy named Atreyu, and then saves the child-like empress who is the queen of Fantastica. Through his journey across the magical world, Bastian faces many obstacles and challenges throughout his adventure. He soon becomes arrogant and loses all memory of the human world. This is an amazing book full of adventures and I strongly recommend it.
