Water Test
Water Taste Test
By Veronica, Olivia, and Corinne
At Emerson School, three 6th grade girls held a test in class. They collected samples of Emerson's drinking water, spring water, and regular bottled water. A total of 50 people, including middle school students from all three grades and faculty members did this test. They sampled these waters and guessed which water was which. They were also asked about which one of the waters they liked best, and if they could actually taste a difference between the waters.
The reason we did this test was because Mr. Loewen mentioned that spring water was more expensive than bottled water and the water we use for our water fountains. He wanted to know if there was a difference between the types of water.
Here are the results of this test.
In brief, these are the conclusions that we came up with:
• Spring water was the water that people liked best
• Water fountain came up close with the second type of water people liked best
• Bottled water was liked the least
• Fountain water was the most distinguishable of the three waters
• Spring water was the least distinguishable of the three waters
• We think that many people thought that water fountain water and spring water were better because of the temperature difference. Bottled water was more lukewarm.
• Many people stated that the only difference between the waters was temperature
The following list of people got all of their water guesses correct.
